The Serious Games Initiative founded Games for Health to develop a community and best practices platform for the numerous games being built for health care applications. To date the project has brought together researchers, medical professionals, and game developers to share information about the impact games and game technologies can have on health care and policy.

Our week at E3

Posted by Ben Sawyer on 05-05-25

During the week of May 15 the Games for Health Project co-hosted a booth and meetings at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. We met with a number of individuals, and companies all doing fantastic work and we displayed several games for health applications to good response.

Cool things we saw including a surgery game for the Nintendo DS from Atlus Entertainment, Obeez City - a multimedia project aimed at fighting obesity, Kinetix a movement and workout game by Sony for it's EyeToy, new iterations of the EyeToy Play series, and a futuristic look at healthcare developed by I-Imersion.

We were joined in our booth by the overall Serious Games Initiative and Carnegie Melon's Entertainment Technology Center who displayed Hazmat Hotzone - a first responder simulation involving hazardous materials training.
